Sound And Energy

In class this term we have been learning about Energy. Energy can not be created or destroyed it can only change its form. moving on to sound energy. Sound travels faster through objects than air. So how dose sound bounce of things if it travels through it.

Here is a example of it changing form. If you tern a light on the electric energy travels through the wires to the light and then it produces light energy. We did a test to see if sound travels faster than light. so the class ran down to the goal posts at the back of the field and Mr Marquand  clapped with some blocks and we saw him clap and then about two or three seconds later we heard the clap.

We watched a couple of videos of sonic booms and how it makes a cloud thing. after it fly's past we hear the jet engine so two tests show that sound travels slower than light. We also put a speaker into black rubbish bag and but liquids on the bag and them put some music through the speakers. this experiment helps us understand that sound travels through vibrations. We learnt that sound travels at 332 metres per second through air and light can go around the world seven times in one second.

When it came Amy’s turn she ran into the cloak bay and hid from Mr Marquand so she did not have to say her speech. After a while we dragged her out and she read  her speech.  Infact Mr Marquand really liked it. Everyone had a turn reading there speech. I really liked quite a few of them. Science Fair Project

In the last month room7 have been making their science fair boards for the schools and Waikato science fair. My science fair was on what is the best way to get rid of the spicy taste in your mouth. I found it was quite amazing because with my test some people didn't even find the tabasco sauce spicy and others, including me, found it quite spicy. Just in case you wanted to know, ice cream was the best soothing product.Through my reasearch I found out the that fat/milk products dissolve the capsiacin taste in your mouth, so are better than water based products. Capsiacin is the spicy part of a pepper, capsicum, chilly.

Silage stacking

We all thought it would take all day but it was a good experience and helped us to work together more. Everyone was involved and no one sat and watched. It was good fun and some people weren’t used to it, so it was a good taste of mud and sweat. It was good because we made some money to help pay for trips.
